Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Maddy attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating, Maddy moved to Utah to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA with the Grand County School District. While in Moab, she realized her enduring interest in the nonprofit sector and developed a strong appreciation for the impact local nonprofits have in their communities.
Following her VISTA term, Maddy spent five years at the Seekhaven Family Crisis and Resource Center, the region’s sole provider of comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy services. While there, she completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Utah State University and a concentration in Nonprofit Management from American Public University. She graduated with honors in 2017. During her three-year tenure as Seekhaven’s Executive Director, Maddy developed and maintained a complex funding structure through her skilled grant research, writing, and management.
Maddy served on the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition Board of Trustees between 2017 and 2020.
